Accessibility statement for the UKICC.net website
Scope
This accessibility statement applies to the UKICC website available at https://www.ukicc.net/.
This website is run by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute on behalf of the Department for Business and Trade - a UK government department. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
zoom in without the text spilling off the screen
navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
listen to most of the website using a screen reader
Whilst the website covers occasionally complex legal matters, we’ve also tried to make the text simple to understand where this is possible.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this website is
We know that some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
the ‘Submit a complaint’ form
the ‘guided conversation’ chatbot
some older PDF documents
Feedback and contact information
If you find any accessibility problems not listed on this page or think we’re not meeting accessibility requirements, please contact us.
If you would prefer us to help you with your issue directly, you can contact us via our ‘Submit a complaint’ page (though note its accessibility status listed later), our telephone number on 01268 886690, or via email at ukicc@tsi.org.uk.
Enforcement procedure
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
Technical information about this website’s accessibility
The Chartered Trading Standards Institute is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard. The website is partially compliant and meets most requirements of the WCAG 2.2 AA standard.
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Disproportionate burden
The ‘Submit a complaint’ form code is provided by our case-handling software provider and posts complaints to our case handler queue. It uses code that we cannot easily adjust ourselves and the alternative (coding our own form and using the case handling software’s application programming interface (‘API’)) would be a disproportionate cost and burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. Alternate methods to submit a complaint are outlined elsewhere on this page.
The ‘guided conversation’ chatbot is provided by our case-handling software provider and helps you determine your rights. We do not have access to the guided conversation chatbot’s underlying code to address any accessibility shortcomings. Alternate methods to understand your rights are outlined elsewhere on this page.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. Our advice service is available via methods outlined elsewhere on this page. New PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.
